InclusiveVT Week: Where Everyone Belongs

September 7 - 11, 2020

InclusiveVT Week occurs annually the week after Labor Day. It is dedicated to adhering to and promoting the institutional and individual commitment to Ut Prosim (that I may serve) in the spirit of community, diversity, and excellence.

InclusiveVT Week is a touchpoint for welcoming newcomers to our community and making Virginia Tech a place "where everyone belongs."

OIA Conversations Webinar Series: Racism, Justice, and Community Resilience

The goal of this webinar is to raise awareness of our local conditions and Virginia Tech’s commitment to anti-racist public safety. The series also aims to demonstrate that this awareness needs to be broadened to identify how the local situation is linked to global communities of color.

LIVE Q&A with Daniel about For they Know Not What They Do

Daniel Karslake is an award-winning American director and producer, whose highly acclaimed work deals with social justice issues, both domestically and internationally. His current project, For They Know Not What They Do examines the use of both the Holy Bible and the U.S. Constitution as a means to discriminate against LGBT Americans under the guise of "religious freedom."

What are ways you can support InclusiveVT week?

Check out the list below for simple, everyday things you can do to build community.
As a student you can:

  • Virtually introduce yourself to someone in class who you don’t know
  • Invite a friend to join you for a socially distanced, mask-on walk around campus
  • Offer encouragement to someone who is having a difficult time
  • Tell someone how much you appreciate their support
  • Visit one of the cultural centers in Squires with your mask on

As an employee you can:

  • Offer to help someone who is busier than you at work
  • Tell someone’s supervisor they are doing a great job
  • Encourage a colleague who is struggling
  • Set up a zoom meeting with someone you haven’t seen in awhile
  • Invite someone to join you at a virtual program
  • Virtually meet your InclusiveVT representative
