Matthew Cumbie


Matthew Cumbie is a dancemaker, educator, and collaborator based in Washington, DC, and is an Associate Artistic Director and the Director of Communications for Dance Exchange. His artistic research cultivates processes and experiences that are participatory and intergenerational, moving through known and unknown, and bring a poetic lens to a specifically queer experience.

Christine King


Christine King, currently of Minneapolis, MN, spent 20+ years in NY being part of the Core Performing company of Urban Bush Women. Since 2012 Ms. King has been in a performing, development [receiving and giving] relationship with Paloma Mac Gregor/Angela’s Pulse (a UBW alum), working specifically on a dance performance work--‘Building A Better FishTrap. Ms. King has had the pleasure to be part of several community engagement-performing projects with DC-based dance company Dance Exchange.

Karen A. Roberto is the Director of the Institute for Society, Culture and Environment, and a tenured University Distinguished Professor in the Department of Human Development and Senior Fellow at the Center for Gerontology.

R. Benjamin Knapp


R. Benjamin Knapp is the founding director of the Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology and has a joint appointment as professor in the Department of Computer Science.

Lisa M. Lee


Lisa M. Lee, an expert in bioethics and human research who formerly worked for President Barack Obama’s administration, is associate vice president for research and innovation in the Division of Scholarly Integrity and Research Compliance. Most recently, Lee was chief of bioethics and human subjects research at Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, the largest biomedical research facility administered by the U.S. Department of Defense. She also spent 14 years at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
