First Year and Transfer Students
Every incoming first year and transfer student is required to complete the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion module within their first two months on campus. This module reflects our commitment to build a strong community where everyone is recognized and respected, as well as our belief that diversity, equity, and inclusion are hallmarks of a Virginia Tech education.
The interactive module covers three main content areas: Identities; Power, Privilege, and Oppression; and Creating a Culture of Respect. View this Inclusive VT Insight for more detail:
All incoming graduate and professional students are required to complete the Diversity: Inclusion in the Modern Workplace module within their first two months of enrollment. This module supports the Virginia Tech Principles of Community by demonstrating how everyone can contribute to a respectful and inclusive workplace. The module complements diversity requirements set by the Graduate School or their program of study.
For more information on the required modules, go to https://students.vt.edu/onlineprograms.html
Faculty and Staff Employees
The Diversity: Inclusion in the Modern Workplace module is mandatory for all full and part time benefitted employees and must be completed within 90 days of receiving the PageUp LMS notification. Faculty and staff have the ability to view their course completion status in the PageUp LMS system dashboard. As new employees join the university, the module will serve as part of their onboarding experience.
Here is a discussion guide that accompanies the Diversity: Inclusion the Modern Workplace module.
