Diversity Education and Programs

Division  of Student Affairs put together a  video guide for educators which includes an introduction to inclusive design in higher education and practical suggestions for implementation in the classroom.  Our own Michele Deramo is featured in the video. 

The Inclusive Leadership Series is a capacity-building program that develops skills and diversity competencies for fostering inclusive cultures across campus. The series is designed for Inclusive VT representatives who will provide local leadership for diversity and inclusion in their areas.

The Inclusive Pedagogy Initiative advances the theory and practice of inclusion in the teaching / learning domains across the university.   The initiative is geared to academic department chairs, instructional faculty, and administrative-professional faculty who work closely with students in co-curricular learning contexts. 

DiversityEdu is an online course for new students which gives them personal skills to engage successfully with their diverse peers and faculty, self-monitor for the influence of stereotypical thinking, and make choices that will contribute to the quality of their campus experience, their education, and the Virginia Tech community.

DiversityEdu for Search Committees is an online course which provides committee members with skills to recognize and reduce the effects of unconscious bias in recruitment, hiring, and advancement at Virginia Tech.   DiversityEdu for Search Committees
